How Do I Participate

There are a number of ways that you can participate in the Days of Change program in York.

Pledge to Reduce Your Household Emissions

The simplest way is to make a pledge to reduce the Greenhouse Gas emissions for your household.

We have identified the 30 simplest things that you can do to reduce your household greenhouse gas emissions and placed them on our Pledge Card. The good news is that most of the pledges will help save you money within the first year of taking action!

There are probably a number of actions that you are already taking, so you can click on "Already Doing" for those actions so that we can give you credit for your great work!

For any new actions that you pledge to undertake, we provide lots of information about how to take action, explain what government subsidies might be available and how to apply, and we've even arranged for special discounts on a range of pledge products during from local stores during August.

Become an Ambassador

You can become a Days of Change Ambassador simply by inviting your family or friends to take the Days of Change pledge. We've made it easy for you to do this by allowing you to load up your e-mail address book and selecting the contacts that you would like to invite.

On your profile page you will be able to see the cumulative benefits of you efforts - for your household plus for all of the households that have make pledges as a result of having been invited to do so by you.

We will be providing a major prize at the final concert to reward the Ambassador that has engaged the largest number of people to take part in the program.

Host a Days of Change Party

Days of Change Ambassadors may choose to engage their family, friends and contacts in Days of Change by hosting a Days of Change gathering.

This could be as simple as printing out some pledge cards (or grabbing some printed pledge cards from stores around town), handing them out to your friends and then explaining the process of making the pledge on-line while you share a tea or coffee.

You might also choose to show a video to help set the scene or you might choose to play the Sustainability board game which we will provide access to.
